Client

Chung-Su Kim, 2-ban, Sangnam3-ri, Sangnam-myeon, Inje-gun

Research Period

2002. 3. 2 ~ 2003. 2. 28

Contract Price

In this research, metabolism activation of mulberry and its application methods have been studied. In the 1st step, extracts of mulberry were divided to 4 parts of fruits, leaves, stems and roots, and studied. The results of metabolism activation research show that they contain abundant phenol-type compounds, have effective anti-oxidation (anti-aging) effects in all parts and are superb in UV-ray blocking. Especially, roots and stems of mulberry have been verified to contain strong anti-bacteria effects against Gram positive bacillus. Besides, it has superior anti-oxidation effects, has strong UV-ray blocking effects, and if bean sprouts are raised with more than 0.1% of mulberry extracts showing the anti-bacteria effects, the germination rate gets increased, rate of decomposition gets decreased, growth is increased, the cultivation amount gets increased and safer-better bean sprouts are cultivated. In addition, we shall develop mulberry as resources, so that the fruits and leaves, which are edible, can be developed and used as healthy functional foods, and stems and roots, which are not edible yet, can be developed as functional cosmetics ingredients that have free radical elimination and UV blocking effects.

Research on elm tree extract's metabolism vitalization and bean sprouts cultivation using that

Client

Yun-Su Kim, 347-10 (3/4), Sangdong-ri, Inje-eup, Gangwon-do

Research Period

2000. 11. 1 ~ 2001. 10. 31

According to this research, elm trees contain phenol-type compounds abundantly, prevent UV rays effectively and are superior in anti-oxidation activities (aging-prevention effects). Using this metabolism activities, development of natural anti-oxidation agents, development of food additives, development of functional foods, development of functional cosmetics with UV-ray preventive functions and anti-aging effects are considered desirable. In addition, if the elm tree extracts are digested and used for the bean sprouts cultivations, it is safer than the use of agricultural chemicals or harmful materials, and it may produce high-quality functional bean sprouts with more vitamin-C containment. In order to spread the elm tree extract-processed bean sprouts widely, various promotions and application shall be followed.

Research on Water Qualities and Management System of 3 East Coast Rivers

Client

Gangwon Province Environment Technology Development Center

Research Period

2000. 8. ∼ 2001. 8.

Contract Price

Rivers near the east coast are suffering from chronic water resource depletion problems due to their shorter lengths and limited water-holding capacity, compared to Namhan and Bukhan rivers. Among the 3 rivers researched – Ganseongbukcheon, Samcheokoshipcheon and Samcheokgagokcheon -, Oshipcheon in the southern region of the east coast and Gagokcheon have water pollution possibilities from the deserted metal mines in the top regions. In addition, the regions were devastated by the huge fire in the spring of 2000 and the water ecosystems are expected to be influenced until the forests are fully restored. Therefore, this research studies water quality changes from the past to the present, evaluates sources of the pollutions, analyzes water quality status through precise water quality inspections, evaluates environment capacities and presents a solution for effective pollution source management in the water systems.

This is a part of a research to commercialize Rosa davurica Pallas trees growing in Jeongseon-gun region. The research on vital metabolism and functional material segregation of Rosa davurica Pallas has been signed with Jeongseon Agricultural Society of Rosa davurica Pallas and being conducted currently.

As a result of the research, fruits of the Rosa davurica Pallas trees contain ample amount of vitamin C. Especially, it was concluded that anti-oxidation effects are outstanding in all parts of the roots, stems, leaves and fruits. In case of Rosa davurica Pallas roots, its anti-oxidation effects were even stronger than the well known natural anti-oxidants – vitamin C and α-tocopherol, acknowledging existence of strong natural anti-oxidants. Currently, strong anti-oxidants have been segregated from the roots of Rosa davurica Pallas, its structure has been understood and researches on the natural anti-oxidant’s metabolism are successfully being taken.

Research Name

Research on Han River Total Pollution Management System Policy

Client

  Environment Research Center, Gangwon University

Research Period

1999. 6. ∼ 2000. 6.

Contract Price

The Total Pollution Management System sets total amount of water pollution material in a region and allows pollution discharges within the range. Paldang-ho Lake region (Special policy region, Natural preservation region, etc.) is likely to use the Total System Incentive as a method of regional development. Top regions of Nam- & Buk-Han Rivers including our province have no actual incentive benefits as it is and it may become another restriction of land usage. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to understand the influence of the Total Pollution Management System on our province, to come up with a strategy against the Total Pollution Management System to eliminate the unbalanced development between the capital region and Gangwon province, and to set up strategies against future policy changes such as incentive system improvement, etc.

Research Name

Research on Functionalities of LINNE ( Zanthoxylum piperitum) Trees

Client

  Yangyang-gun District Agricultural Technology Center

Research Period

98. 12. 29 ∼ 99. 2. 20

Contract Price

This is a part of a research to commercialize LINNE ( Zanthoxylum piperitum) Trees spread widely over in Yangyang-gun district. With the focus on anti-oxidation effects, anti-bacteria function, anti-cancer vitalization, general ingredients, micro-nutrient analysis, etc., have been studied. The result shows that the skin and fruits contain ample vitamin C as well as potassium, calcium, and zincs. The result of anti-bacteria test for harmful food bacteria (10 kinds) demonstrated that anti-bacteria activities can be observed in almost all bacteria and therefore there is a high chance of possibility to be developed as a natural preservative. The leaves and the skin methanol extracts have strong anti-oxidation effects, so that they can be useful botanical resources for functional food development such as food additives, health supplements, etc.
